State Science Fair

The State Science Fair was last night! Jon and Justin left to drive down to Springfield right after school. It is an hour and a half away so I stayed home with Nathan and Owen because it doesn't end until 8:30 pm. It was held at the University of Missouri in Hammond Hall. Yesterday was the judging competition. The judging started at 6:30 pm and ended at 8:3o pm. The students had to remain with their projects the whole time and the parents had to sit far away. Justin was the only 5th grader competing. There were 2 groups: Middle School (6th-8th grade plus Justin :) and High School. (There was also an elementary section, but they do not get judged. They are there just for show) They are judged together so it will be very difficult for Justin to compete against High School kids, but he had so much fun with his dad and he loved being there. Now, the awards ceremony is tomorrow and we are all heading down this time. Justin is so funny. He is already thinking about next years project :)

University of Missouri

Scoping out the competition:

"Ok, papa, go sit down...I am ready for the judges."

Middle School was upstairs and High School was ground level.

Middle School (Justin is somewhere in there ).

High School (parents HAD to sit in the blue chairs..far, far away from their child)
UPDATE: The Asst. Superintendant JUST called me and Justin WILL be winning an award!! Now, they wouldn't tell him which kind (1st-4th), but he won one!! He called Justin's Principal, Ms. Campbell and she is going to let her and his teacher know! He (Dr. Prater) and Mrs. Cash are driving down tomorrow to watch the award ceremony!! I am so happy for Justin!!
